Formula and assumptions

The estimated days and date show when available space would run out if net growth continues. At zero or negative net growth, available space is not being used up under the current inputs.

Convert daily, weekly, or monthly net growth to a daily rate and divide remaining capacity by that rate. Recalculate with the selected growth variation, which defaults to 20% above and below the baseline.

Why the result can vary

Large uploads, backup policy, retention, deduplication, compression, deletion, and trash retention can abruptly change net growth.

Outcome: The baseline is about 10 months; 20% faster growth shortens it to roughly 8.3 months.

Should I enter total uploads or net growth?

Enter additions and deletions separately and the calculator subtracts them. If you enter net growth after deletions as the amount added, set the amount deleted to 0 so it is not subtracted twice.

Is every month treated as exactly 30 days?

No. Monthly rates use an average month of 30.4375 days. The projected date is a planning estimate based on that average and the growth rate you enter.

What happens if growth is zero or negative?

If free space remains, it is not being used up under the current inputs, so there is no projected date when storage becomes full. Enter future upload plans as a separate scenario.
