Subtract recorded writes from manufacturer-rated TBW and use average daily writes to estimate when that rating is reached.

The result is when the manufacturer-rated TBW would be reached if the present host-write rate continues. It neither predicts failure that day nor guarantees operation until then.
Why the result can vary
